Steamology is developing scalable, modular hydrogen-based technology solutions that have commercially viable potential to replace oil and gas-fired boilers, for industrial sector steam and medium-grade heat users.
Steam is generated using energy stored as compressed hydrogen and oxygen gas in tanks. High pressure superheated steam is used to drive a turbine to do useful work by generating electricity. Renewable Energy is used to power electrolysis to generate the hydrogen and oxygen gas and to compress the gas into storage tanks. This Water to Water closed cycle is emission free producing no carbon or NOX emissions in a repeatable cycle without charging losses.

Digester Heat Recovery System
For the large continuous digester systems, the heat is recovered from extraction liquor flash tanks and the steaming vessel. In mills pulping pine or other resinous softwood, the continuous digester heat recovery system also doubles as the turpentine recovery system. These systems typically will contain a cyclone separator, pressure vacuum relief valve, either single or two stage condensers, and the turpentine decanter and storage tanks. The condensers are falling film shell and tube units with the vapor inside of the tubes and cooling water on the outside.

Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) Technology for Water Treatment
DAF is considered very efficient and is widely used in treating white water, TMP filtrates and wastewater for pulp and paper industry. Fuel Switch in Rotary Lime Kiln (Replacement of FO with Biogas)
Lime kiln is used for making calcinations of lime. The primary heat energy used is furnace oil which can be repalced with Bio Gas by means of treatment of foul condensate along with bagasse effluent biologically for generation of bio gas. The foul condensate with Bagasse pith filtrate contains proteins, lipids, carbohydrates undergoes hydrolysis, acidogenesis and methanogenesis. CH4+C02 biogas is produced and it is used in rotary lime kiln.

Green Liquor Clarifier
Green Liquor clarifier is used in the kraft pulping process to remove impurities from green liquor which is a combination of sodium carbonate and sodium sulphide. The chemicals can be recovered and reused in the pulping process. It improves efficiency of the recovery boiler which includes burning of black liquor to recover chemicals and generate steam. The process reduces the need for producing chemicals from scartch which would otherwise be an energy-intensive process involving the release of carb on dioxide. Infrared technology
Infrared digital cameras such as TI 32 can be used in the paper industries to inspect faults in the electrical equipments such as motors, liquid levels in boilers and other systems, heat loss and leakage through equipments. Infrared digital cameras capture invisible infrared images and convert them into visible images. Oxygen Delignification and Efficient Screening to Obtain Low Kappa
The use of oxygen-based systems to remove lignin from pulp significantly reduces the biological load (AOX, COD, and BOD) in a pulp mill compared to systems utilizing chlorine. The trade-off in using oxygen delignification in the past has been an increase in fiber damage, and a resulting loss in fiber strength. ANDRITZ has developed and enhanced its oxygen delignification technology to not only efficiently reduce the environmental load, but also maintain pulp quality. ANDRITZ technology provides highly efficient oxygen delignification using one or two reactors, depending upon process requirements. The reactors are pressurized and operate in the medium consistency range.The ANDRITZ process ensures a significant reduction in kappa with low variation (uniform pulp quality). In the ANDRITZ oxygen delignification process, screening is performed after the oxygen stage, prior to washing and bleaching, to increase the wood yield since a considerable fraction of shives is converted into good pulp.

Transportation fuel
Black liquor can be converted to biogas through gasification method to produce synthetic biofuel. The synthetic gas produced by gasification of black liquor is transformed into sustainable and low carbon fuels such as dimethyl ether (DME) and methanol. First methanol is produced which is then converted to DME through a catalyst reaction. This synthetic biofuel can be used in used in diesel engines due to their high energy efficiency and low carbon emissions. The fuel can also be used to power the pulp mill's own operations.To replace the lost energy due from the black liquor that is converted to fuel, biomass such as branches and tops from the forest are added. The result is a combined process that can produce both pulp and new fuels. This integrated biorefinery is of low cost.
