Compression Moulding

Compression moulding is a manufacturing technique for crafting solid three-dimensional objects from thermosetting materials like rubber, plastics, and composites. This process involves heating a mould to a specific temperature, placing a material blank inside, closing the mould, and applying pressure. The material conforms to the mould's shape and subsequently cures or hardens under heat and pressure.

Graphene-reinforced rubber

Graphene-reinforced rubber incorporates graphene, a one-atom-thick carbon lattice, into rubber to enhance its properties. This includes heightened strength, stiffness, electrical and thermal conductivity, wear resistance, and gas barrier properties. The addition of graphene improves various rubber characteristics such as modulus, tensile strength, tear strength, abrasion resistance, fatigue resistance, electrical and thermal conductivity, as well as gas barrier properties.

Heat Control Technology (HCT)

Dunlop's Heat Control Technology (HCT) allows tires to retain heat longer, ensuring consistent performance throughout their lifespan. HCT employs distinct cap and base compounds to create a thermal gradient within the tire. The cap compound quickly heats up, transferring heat to the base compound to prevent overheating, maintaining grip and performance as the tire wears. The heat-generating base layer contains carbon black for efficient warming, while the durable outer compound resists wear and tear, providing excellent grip on various surfaces. HCT also minimizes vibration through a special belt construction and strategic placement of compounds on the tire.

Sustainable sourcing of rubber

Instead of using rubber from rubber trees (Hevea) in tyres, synthetic rubber can be used in tyres. This is more resistant to abrasion than natural rubber and has good temperature properties.

Thermal Energy Management System (TEMS) technology

Thermal Energy Management System (TEMS) enhances energy efficiency in industrial processes by recovering and exchanging heat. In the rubber industry, TEMS captures heat from vulcanization and redistributes it to heat other production line components like mixers and extruders. This results in substantial energy savings and emissions reduction.
