A Study Tour Visit of Raymond Textile Plant

A Study Tour/ Visit of Raymond Textile Plant, Chhidwara, Madhya Pradesh, was jointly organized by FCDO and the BEE on 9th December 2022. The plant has a cutting-edge integrated manufacturing facility, that creates high-end pure wool, wool blend, and polyester viscose suits. The Raymond Chhindwara unit has 128 looms and 33,528 spindles. This Study Tour/ Visit successfully facilitated the exchange of best practices and technologies between industry stakeholders. The Study Tour/ Visit provided the opportunity to learn about the best Industrial Energy Efficiency & Decarbonization (IEED) technology/ procedures used at Raymond Limited. A consultation workshop on the Aluminium sector, titled “Pathways for Energy Efficiency and Decarbonisation in the Indian Aluminium Industry,” was organised under the ASPIRE Programme at Vedanta Limited, Jharsuguda, Odisha, on 28th August 2024. The discussions focused on innovative measures adopted by Indian Aluminium industries and the new-age technologies and solutions required to accelerate the sector’s decarbonisation. Technology suppliers from India, along with JNARDDC, showcased cutting-edge technologies to enhance industrial energy efficiency and decarbonisation (IEED) measures, including CCUS, Best Available Technologies (BATs), and data-driven solutions. Sectoral Workshop on Best Practices in Energy Efficiency in Tyre Sector: A Path for Decarbonisation.

A one-day sectoral workshop on Tyre industry was organised under ASPIRE Programme. The sectoral workshop on “Best Practices in Energy Efficiency in Tyre Sector – A Path for Decarbonisation” was held at Energy Management Centre, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala on 7th August 2024. The workshop contemplated on some novel measures adopted by Indian tyre manufacturers to accelerate decarbonisation in the Indian tyre sector. During the workshop technology suppliers from UK and India presented on some of the innovative technologies to elevate industrial energy efficiency and decarbonisation (IEED) measures in the tyre sector which included digitalized air compression systems, recycling of tyres, utilisation of waste heat to energy, renewable energy substitution, etc. The workshop ended with a panel discussion where perspectives from various stakeholders such as industry representatives, sector experts and influential leaders shared their valuable opinions to enhance decarbonisation in the tyre industry. A business trip to the UK, scheduled from 20th to 23rd May 2024, was undertaken by delegates from the energy-intensive Indian aluminium and cement industries to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and best practices aimed at accelerating India’s energy transition journey. The delegation included representatives from the Ministry of Power (MoP), Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), and the ASPIRE team. This trip was organised as part of the development of the Industrial Decarbonisation and Energy Efficiency Knowledge Sharing (IDEEKSHA) platform, an initiative designed to promote collaboration and knowledge exchange in the field of industrial decarbonisation and energy efficiency. This strategic visit aimed to strengthen Indo-UK cooperation, foster innovative approaches, and support the adoption of sustainable energy practices within India’s industrial sectors. A study trip to Balarampur Chini Mills Limited, Haidergarh, Uttar Pradesh

A study trip to Balarampur Chini Mills Limited, Haidergarh in Uttar Pradesh, located on the connecting road between Haidergarh town and Pokhra village was organised under the Aspire Programme on 22nd March 2024. The company has a crushing capacity of 5000 tonnes of cane per day along with a 20.25 MW cogeneration plant fuelled by bagasse. In addition to a 3 MW turbine generator to export power to the grid, the plant operates a boiler with a nominal capacity of 120 TPH incorporating a traveling grate with electric drive which is particularly developed for burning bagasse. Furthermore, the plant also incorporates an extraction cum condensing turbo generator set with a nominal capacity of 20.25 MW and steam inlet parameters of 84 kg/cm2 and 510⁰C. In overall, the Balaram Chini Mills Limited, Haidergarh showcases a high level of decarbonisation practices. The sectoral workshop on “Best Practices in Energy Efficiency in Sugar Sector – A Path for Decarbonisation” was held in Hotel Renaissance, Lucknow on 21st March 2024. The workshop contemplated on some new and innovative measures adopted by Indian sugar manufacturers to accelerate decarbonisation in the sugar sector. A Study Trip to GACL plant, Dahej, Gujarat was organised under ASPIRE Programme on 28th February 2024. The company operates two plants in Dahej and Vadodara and is a top performer in the chlor-alkali sector in PAT cycle II under NMEEE. Being an energy intensive industry, it has adopted sustainable measures such as renewable power generation which includes 171.45 MW of wind farms, 36 MW of solar plant and a 90 MW combined captive power plant at Dahej complex. It also maintains quality standards and holds certifications under ISO: 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 50001:2018. The sectoral workshop on “Best Practices in Energy Efficiency in Chlor-Alkali Sector – A Path for Decarbonisation” was hosted by Gujarat Alkalies and Chemical Limited (GACL) at GACL Auditorium, Dahej Complex – 1, Gujarat on 27th February 2024. The workshop deliberated on some innovative measures adopted by Indian chlor-alkali manufacturers of chemical industries and new-age technologies and solutions required to accelerate decarbonisation in the chlor-alkali sector. Under the ASPIRE Programme, a Study Trip to Khanna Paper Mills was organised on February 14th, 2024. The facility specialises in manufacturing printing paper and paperboard using recycled paper waste, employing innovative technologies to maintain high-quality standards. With a daily production capacity of 400 tons, the plant utilises de-inked pulp in its paper production process. Khanna Paper Mills is equipped to generate 170 TPH of super-heated steam, contributing to a power generation capacity of 28 MW. This study trip proved instrumental in exploring energy-efficient technologies and advancing decarbonisation efforts within India's Pulp & Paper sector. The Study Trip facilitated valuable discussions and deepened participants' understanding of energy efficiency and decarbonisation initiatives implemented by the plant. During the webinar, Coomtech, UK-based technology company, will unveil their innovative technology for drying and upgrading bulk-solid materials. Coomtech’s innovative modular kinetic driers remove surface moisture by shearing the water from particle surfaces, keeping the air and moisture separate from the dried particles which go to storage, transport or directly into processing.
